In this episode the year is 1932 and Lewis is 34 years old.

He is a Fellow of Magdelan College serving as Tutor in English Language and Literature.

Lewis is a published author at this point in his life of two works of poetry.

In a letter penned to his lifelong friend Arthur Greeves on Oct 1st 1931 Lewis said he had "...passed on from believing in God to definitely believing in Christ - in Christianity."

Prior to this for more than a decade of his life he was an atheist.

But in late 1930 following his father's death, Lewis began attending morning Chapel services on a daily basis.

In late 1931 Lewis began taking Holy Communion at Holy Trinity Church, Headington Quarry.

Also in late 1930, Lewis, his brother Warnie, Mrs. Moore and her daughter Maureen all moved into what would be Lewis' lifelong home at the Kilns in Headington Quarry, Oxford.

What is he talking about? He has been carrying on like this for years. He refers to some dumb feminist movie called https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Knight' ;s_Tale which he takes literally at 2:06:00

In the movie A Knight's Tale, the line "If you love me, you will lose" is spoken by Jocelyn to the protagonist William Thatcher (posing as Sir Ulrich von Liechtenstein) during the Paris tournament. This moment serves as a test of William's character, challenging his pride and ego.

Context: William initially promises to win the tournament "in her name," which Jocelyn views as an act of vanity rather than genuine love.

The Ultimatum: She demands he deliberately lose his matches to prove he values her dignity above his own reputation and self-love.

William's Response: William complies, intentionally taking lances to the chest and losing his matches until Jocelyn sends a message that he has proven his love and should now win the tournament.

Key Quote: When William protests that losing proves nothing, Jocelyn replies, "Wrong! Losing is a much keener test of your love... Losing would contradict your self-love, and losing would show your obedience to your lover and not to yourself!"

The selfish bitch tells him to lose the contest to show him he loves her so he does that instead of telling her to go jump in the lake. Jess Purviance for some reason takes it literally. They are always taking some dumb movie literally like it was some story from the Bible they are obliged to believe as Christians. The other day one of them asked me what I thought of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables as if it were some kind of criminal trial! I was asked what I thought of the suicide of Javert.

This was obviously an attempt to suggest that I was like Javert because of my proposed legal system of Secular Koranism which they were going to reject because they think Christians are just too cool for rules. They prefer to think they are all going to hell unless they believe in Jesus.

This is the first book Lewis wrote after becoming a Christian and his first published work of prose fiction. He wrote it in just two weeks while spending time on vacation with his friend Arthur Greeves in Ireland.

In it Lewis alludes to his spiritual journey from his youth as a boy in Belfast up to and beyond the point of his Christian conversion in the late 1920s and early 1930s.

“The Net” is a Thursday discussion with creators and thinkers online. “Let’s see what we catch” is to suggest both the improvisational nature of these discussions and the fact that we never know who is going to show up, adding to the excitement. “In the spirit of eunoia,” the second subtitle, is meant to honor an organization O.G. Rose was part of between 2008 and 2014 in Charlottesville Virginia, though “The Net” has no official affiliation with that organization now. “Eunoia” can be loosely translated as “beautiful thinking,” a phrase we have always loved, for it recalls the three infinites—the good, the true, and the beautiful. We included the second subtitle to honor that creative community which was so formative and meaningful to us.

In this video, I introduce a new framework I call Integrated Theism—not as a final system, but as the beginning of a deeper exploration into consciousness, reality, and God. This isn’t a typical “proof of God” or a standard theological argument. In fact, this journey didn’t start with religion at all.

For nearly a decade, I approached reality from an atheist and agnostic perspective, asking fundamental questions about consciousness, perception, and meaning. What is consciousness? Why does reality show up as a unified world instead of disconnected fragments? Why does anything make sense at all? Those questions led me into cognitive science, philosophy of mind, and eventually into a deeper investigation of how intelligibility itself works.

Drawing from thinkers like Michael Levin, this video explores the idea that the human body—and even biological systems—can be understood as collections of semi-autonomous processes or “sub-agents.” Thoughts, sensations, impulses, and desires appear as a kind of multiplicity within us. And yet, despite that multiplicity, our experience is unified. Everything shows up together within a single field of awareness.

This raises a deeper question: what makes unity possible? Why doesn’t consciousness fragment into disconnected parts?

This is where the work of Jonathan Pageau becomes crucial. His insight that we perceive wholes before parts—that meaning flows from the top down—points to something structural about reality itself. We don’t build meaning from pieces; we recognize patterns within a unifying frame. Without that frame, nothing is intelligible.

From there, the question expands beyond human consciousness to reality as a whole. What makes everything intelligible together? Classical theism answers with a single unified ground of being, while traditions like those emerging from the Latter Day Saint movement emphasize plurality, eternal intelligences, and irreducible multiplicity. These views seem to pull in opposite directions—unity versus plurality.

Integrated Theism emerges as an attempt to reconcile that tension.

Instead of grounding reality in a single substance or reducing everything to disconnected parts, this framework proposes something different: that unity exists at the level of intelligibility itself. Reality is one, not because everything is identical, but because everything is held together within a single, integrative act of awareness.

In this view, God is not simply the most powerful being among others. God is the horizon of intelligibility—the condition that allows anything to appear, relate, and make sense at all. Not just omniscience as knowledge, but a unified field in which all things are present together as a coherent whole.

This transforms how we think about creation, consciousness, truth, and even spiritual experience. It suggests that we are not isolated observers trying to piece reality together from the outside, but participants within a unified structure of meaning—gradually learning to see more clearly and align more deeply with the order that is already there.

In this episode the year is 1932 and Lewis is 33 years old.

He is a Fellow of Magdelan College serving as Tutor in English Language and Literature.

Lewis is a published author at this point in his life of two works of poetry.

In a letter penned to his lifelong friend Arthur Greeves on Oct 1st 1931 Lewis said he had "...passed on from believing in God to definitely believing in Christ - in Christianity."

Prior to this for more than a decade of his life he was an atheist.

But in late 1930 following his father's death, Lewis began attending morning Chapel services on a daily basis.

In late 1931 Lewis began taking Holy Communion at Holy Trinity Church, Headington Quarry.

Also in late 1930, Lewis, his brother Warnie, Mrs. Moore and her daughter Maureen all moved into what would be Lewis' lifelong home at the Kilns in Headington Quarry, Oxford.
